The artist's birth name is Joanne, her mother's name is Anne. "Jo(Anne)" depicts self portraits of the artist and the artist posing as her mother, exploring their complex relationship through garments and visual story telling. It is simply an observation of their similarities and differences as mother and daughter.

"Waiting Mode" was captured during the artists first solo trip abroad to Brindisi, Italy. using the setup of the retro Airbnb accomodation, Toogood captured a project celebrating her independence.

Callum

This project is a celebration of the self through; "Callum" is dedicated to my partner, Callum Moore. Moore identifies as non-binary; as their partner, I view them not as neither masculine nor feminine, but as both. They convey masculinity and femininity as one. Using the natural scenery in Richmond Park, and personal props, "Callum" explores queer identity through feminity and softness.

Spectrum: The Search For Self

Spectrum The Search For Self is a study of the self, exploring the artist's physical, sexual and emotional identity through 7 self-portraits. Toogood breaks down parts of herself into different personas, wearing them like costumes or masks. The images explore masculinity and exaggerated femininity, strength and vulnerability. Security in identity is to exist in harmony with oneself; it is Toogood's intention to explore and share her authentic experience as she believes that to live freely is to live honestly. Each series of photos is accompanied by a relevant description of free-flowing words or listed thoughts.
